Abstract

This research was conducted to know the determine of socio-historical background of the reason fundamentalist growing and movement in tourist destinations wakatobi. It is also to know denominations growing up in Wakatobi and to know and understand the religious groups activities in Wakatobi. This research was using qualitative research methods that is in Wakatobi. The technique of data collecting is interviewing, observations and documentation. The results of this study describe that the social historical background of the development of radicalism in wakatobi are: political pressure factor, emotional factors of religion, cultural factors, ideological of syariah, government policy, mass media, religion comprehension, the religious and nationalist factor, back to as the qur’an and the sunnah, and factors jihad. Religious groups that fall into radical islam is a group of HTI Wakatobi. Wakatobi denominational schools such as DPD 2 Hisbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) Wakatobi is that based islamic missionary movement within the unitary state of Indonesia is based on Pancasila and the constitution of 1945.
