Abstract
ABSTRACT Nidia Rizkinto. NIM 15010106010. Students’ Perception through Collaborative and Individual Work in Writing Activities. Supervised by; Dr. Sitti Nurfaidah, M.Ed., and Suhartini Syukri, S.Pd.I., S.Pd., M.Pd This study purported to comparatively investigate the influence of collaborative and individual work in students writing activity of grade XI students. This research was action research conducted at SMK N 1 Kendari. The participants of this research were 36 eleventh grade students with five students as the subject sample. The researcher gathered the data through observation, reflection, and writing tests. By using these data collection techniques, the researcher obtained both qualitative and quantitative data but especially focus on qualitative data as the research method used. During the data analysis, the researcher interpreted the qualitative data and compared the mean values of the qualitative data. Based on the qualitative data analysis, the researcher concluded that the students had gotten better in writing performance with collaborative work. In quantitative data analysis, it could be seen that the mean values of the students’ writing scores in the first draft, and second draft were 61 and 70 respectively, which showed substantial improvements in the students’ writing skills before, during, and after the implementation of collaborative learning. In the end, all the data findings indicated that using collaborative learning could be help students in English writing activities of grade XI students of SMK N 1 Kendari.
