Abstract

ABSTRACT Meldasari. SID 17010106052. “EFL Students’ Challenges in Creating Digital Teaching Media during Online Service Learning”. Supervised by: Dr. SittiNurfaidah, S.Pd., M.Ed. This study presents the EFL students‟ challenges in creating digital teaching media during online service learning in the time of Covid-19 pandemic. The data in this study involved three EFL students from English Education Department at one of higher education institutions in South East Sulawesi who were recruited based on their participation in the online service learning process.The qualitative data were analyzed by video-based stimulated recall interviews, where the researcher and students watched the videos created by the students while creating digital teaching media during online service learning activities. The findings of the study indicated the students‟ first impressionsand students‟ challenges in creating digital teaching media. The students felt positive and negative impressions such as excited, interested, and happy, and also felt disappointed because they were not used to the pandemic situation. Meanwhile, they felt challenged technically and situationallywhile creating digital teaching media during online service learning. Technically, the students were challenged in editing the video. While situationally, theywere challenged in planning, learning material, acting, teamwork, and need convenient place in making their digital teaching media.
