Abstract

ABSTRACT Tari Sri Togala P. SID. 18010106032. EFL Experiences of online collaboration for research project. Supervised by: Isna Humaera, S.Ag., S.Pd., M.Pd. and Ilfan Askul Pehala, S.Pd., M.Hum. This study aims to investigate EFL students' experiences of online collaboration for research projects. This qualitative study applied a phenomenological study approach to investigate students' experience regarding their experience of online collaboration for a research project and answer the research questions. Data were collected using the reflection of ten EFL students to gain information on EFL students' experiences of online collaboration. The reflection was distributed using google forms. Applied the thematic analysis method, the data were analyzed qualitatively; this study revealed two main themes, first theme namely the benefits of online collaboration, such as; enhanced students' knowledge, greater flexibility, encouraging the sharing of knowledge, students' satisfaction with online collaboration, and create better online collaboration. Furthermore, the second theme, namely the challenges of online collaboration, was concluded; technical issues, irresponsibility and miscommunication. Moreover, trying to understand the process that leads to effective online collaboration. Keywords: benefits; challenges; experiences; online collaboration
