Abstract

ASTRACT Muhammad Yusuf SID 16010106095. Building students’ self-confidences in speaking through group discussion method Supervised by: Abdul Halim, S.Pd.,MA.TESOLHalim, S.Pd.,MA.TESOL This qualitative study aimed to build students self-confidences in speaking practice by using group discussion method for the grade ten students of one of State Islamic Senior High School in Kendari, South East Sulawesi. The data were gathered by using Aghaeepour analysis where the researcher gave three times reflections and observing the English teaching and learning process in the classroom in the form of video tapping. The data were analyzed in three stages: reducing and displaying the data, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that students tended to be more engaging with class activities. This indicates that applying group discussion technique could help students be more confident in speaking.
