Abstract

ABSTRACT Nurwijayanti. SID. 17010106066. EFL Learners’ Experience of Zoom Platform Use during COVID-19. Supervised by: Abdul Halim, S.Pd., M. TESOL. This study is aiming to analyze the experience of students toward Zoom platform use as online platform learning in EFL classroom during COVID-19 pandemic and the extent to what Zoom platform satisfy students’ expectation in EFL classroom during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data was taken from 17 English education major students at a higher institution in the fourth semester of the academic year of 2019/2020. The instruments are questionnaires and students’ reflections. Data were analyzed qualitatively. . The qualitative data were analyzed based on intrinsic pleasantness, novelty, goal/need significance, coping potential, and norm/self-compatibility of using the Zoom platform. The results of the research revealed that the students found many benefits of using the Zoom platform, but also got some difficulties or some obstacles in using this platform. All the students feel the benefits of using Zoom such as can help them to learn and change the real class, various interesting features can record and save videos during the meeting, brighten your facial skin tone, change the background as desired, schedule online meetings, a Zoom feature that is easy to apply, displays many of the best features, facilitate clear presentations, can display power points, exist via video calls. This will provide information to the students, lecturers, or universities that Zoom is one of the important internet platforms that can be used for online learning media to overcome the educational problem during the COVID-19 pandemic.
