Abstract
ABSTRACT Dian Masri. SID. 18010106029. EFL Students’ Experiences’ in Developing Presentational Communicative Competence During Virtual Exchange Program. Supervised by: Dr. Sitti Nurfaidah, S.Pd., M.Ed. and Nur Hasanah Safei, M.Pd. Despite the fact that virtual exchange program is mushrooming recently, there is a scarcity of studies that specifically investigate the presentational skills in virtual exchange program settings. To fill this gap, this study aims to portray the students’ experiences in developing their presentational communicative competence during virtual exchange program. This study focuses on five undergraduate students’ reflections of their experiences they encountered in virtual exchange program. Using thematic analysis and NCSSFL-ACTFL Proficiency framework in analyzing the garnered data, the reflections revealed some important aspects of consideration in presentational communicative competence, i.e., function, text and vocabulary, communicative strategies, cultural awareness, and context and content. The result showed that students’ experiences in virtual exchange program positively develop their presentational communicatice competence by increasing self-efficacy and speaking skill as well.
