Abstract

This paper examines the religious expression of Indonesia scholars in social media. This paper is necessary to be done because the social media nowadays, especially Whatsapp, was utilized only as a medium of education, learning and communication, while religious expression is still rarely done. A qualitative descriptive method with an ethnographic approach was used in this paper. The results showed that form of religious expression began to be shown through nonverbal communication, especially when calamities and administering speech come. The religious feeling is undoubtedly different from previous eras. If the Orderer or Sufi in Indonesia spread religion with peaceful, polite expression and based on local culture, Fukaha with very tolerant religious expression famous with Mazāhib Arba'a and discussion tradition, then the religious expression of Indonesian scholars which are outstanding with the cyber world with social media Whatsapp also based the local wisdom that refers to the Qur'an and the Hadith of the Prophet.
