Abstract

ABSTRACT Milda Fatriani SID 16010106038. Students’ Perception of Pair Work Activity in the Speaking Class at IAIN Kendari. Supervised by: Isna Humaera, S. Ag, S. Pd, M. Pd This study aims to examine students’ perceptions of Pair Work Activity in the Speaking Class at IAIN Kendari. The participants of this study consist of 26 students from the students of Speaking Class B in the second semester of English Department at IAIN Kendari. The qualitative data were analyzed by students’ reflection. The results of the research explained that the students’ responded positively to the use of Pair Work Activity in the Speaking Class at IAIN Kendari. The students also find out the use of Pair Work Activity in the Speaking Class at IAIN Kendari as gave benefits to them.The benefits of Pair Work is it can help students to do the task quickly and help in improving students’ confidence in speaking and train the students’ cooperation, also help the students to understand the lesson easily and makes English learning more varied and interesting. The use of Pair Work activity in the classroom still has a weakness that are get the passive partner and get the noisy atmosphere. This study implies the use of Pair Work Activity in the Speaking Class at IAIN Kendari encouraged in order to improve the students’ motivation in learning English and the learning process is not monotony so that can help the students to enjoy the learning process and can train students’ cooperative in learning.
