Abstract

ABSTRACT Sitti Nurmila NIM 15010106036. Students’ Response towards Cooperative Learning in English Classroom. Supervised By : Hj. Isna Humaerah, S. Ag., S. Pd., M. Pd. This study aims to investigate the use of cooperative learning in English classroom based on students’ response at SMA Negeri 1 Kendari class X MIPA E at the first semester for academic year 2018/2019. This study is conducting for 4 weeks, there are 8 meetings, starting, on Tuesday, 22 January 2019 until Friday, 15 February 2019. The researcher uses qualitative design to explain these matters. The populations of this study are the students at grade X MIPA E of SMA Negeri 1 Kendari and the total of the sample are 36 students including 12 male and 24 female students. Two instruments are reflection and documentation is using to gather the data of this study. The data are collecting use reflection consisted of 5 (five) questions that relate with cooperative learning. The result of this research show that the students’ response towards cooperative learning has positive response. Students’ reflection reveals that students are happy in learning using cooperative learning, students find it easy to understand the material, students can express their ideas. It shows from the students’ reflection after learning process. Besides, it finds that students familiar with group activities in English classroom. Then, cooperative learning helps students in learning language and most of the students agree that this approach helps them to acquire the knowledge through working in a team easily and make the learning process more interesting. To sum up, Cooperative Learning is a good approach for the students to learn and a good method in managing a classroom. Key words: Cooperative Learning, English Classroom, Response, Qualitative
