Abstract

ABSTRACT Pina Pramustiara. SID. 16010106091. Students’ Anxiety in the Impromptu Activity Performance in Speaking Class. Supervised by: Isna Humaera S.Ag, S.Pd, M.Pd. This study investigates the factors that cause students' speaking anxiety during impromptu activity performance in speaking class. This research used qualitative descriptive methods in the process of collecting data and answering research questions. The participants of this study were 9 students from class A in the second semester of academic year 2019/2020. They were majoring in the English education department in one of higher institutes in Southeast Sulawesi experience speaking anxiety in doing the impromptu activity in speaking class. The finding of this study is about students feeling in impromptu activity were nervous, afraid, worry and lac of vocabulary, students reason why they feel anxiety, and how students overcome their anxiety. This study implies the teacher did impromptu activity performance to creating and providing learning environment to making students’ less anxious when speaking in front of the class.
